Timnath/Wellington Middle-High School

Scope

U.S. Engineering completed two high schools for Poudre School District in Northern Colorado. These schools both opened to students in August 2022.

The 250,000 sq-ft building area features a highly energy-efficient mechanical system. The ground-source heat pump system reduces carbon use by employing electricity to provide heating and cooling.

Both buildings, which contain classrooms, commons areas, full kitchen, gymnasiums, locker rooms, a performing arts center, arts studios, workshops and administration offices, currently have a site energy use index (EUI) that outperform State of Colorado building performance standards. Timnath operates with an EUI of 45.4 kBtu/SF, while Wellington operates with an EUI of 32.6 kBtu/SF. The state standard is 49.1 kBtu/SF.
